CENTRO DE TRANSPORTES Camiones y autobuses

The biography of the Gijón Transport Centre begins in 1987, when the Gijón City Council and the Principality of Asturias began to plan an area of services for road freight transport that offers services to companies, vehicles and their crews, bringing together in the same space the different road freight transport operators (warehousemen, transport agencies, transporters, logistics operators and other companies related to transport).
The City Council is in charge of providing the plots and the Principality of Asturias drafts and executes the construction project of the Gijón Transport Centre. For the management of this area, the Joint Venture ‘Centro de Transportes de Gijón, S.A.’ was established on December 11, 1991.
In January 1992, work began to open the facilities to the public, in March for vehicles and from April for the rest of the facilities, completing in the following years the construction of 4 warehouses for storage and logistics with about 12,100 m2 and several office buildings with about 1,031 m2 available to They offer 45 business and administrative spaces, a restaurant-cafeteria, rest areas, public toilets and showers, industrial scales, etc.
With the expansion of the parking area in 2007, the current offer of parking for commercial vehicles reaches 375 spaces (205 in car park I and 170 in car park II).
