LaSalita was born in 2011 as a proposal for an affordable and direct approach between the city of Gijón and art, fleeing from the cliché of the solitary artist engrossed in his studio. We put ourselves at the service of art, artists and creation in general, to help all those who need to express themselves to find a space where they have the tools and professionals who can support them.
LaSalita is an art room and workshop. It is composed of two parts. The first is the art room, with a showcase facing the public. The second part is the workshop where we carry out different art or craft courses, for children from 5 years old to adults of any age. These courses are taught by Marianna Nieddu (monitor and director) and others by artists or artisans who need a space to carry out their courses.
Marianna, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Sassari (Italy), specializes as a Senior Technician in Engraving and Printing techniques at the Cádiz School of Art, continues her training in the New Technologies Course in the Lithography and Engraving Workshops taught at the Lithography and Printing Center Viña de Galicia. Gijón. His work focuses on the study of new approaches to engraving techniques, the incorporation of new materials and reflection on the interaction between engraving and sculpture. In addition to her work at LaSalita she is also a professor of Artistic Drawing, Color Theory and Fundamentals of Creativity at ESNE University School of Design, Innovation and Technology in Oviedo.
